Public charging
Everything you need to know about charging on the go
To charge your car on the go, you can use public charging stations. Public charging points range from slower chargers to fast chargers, so you can work out which one suits your needs at the time. Many apps will help you find the nearest charger, but more and more electric cars are also helping their drivers to find a charger. In Finland public charging is offered by ABC lataus, Virta and Plugit, among others. The charging network is available through the Ayvens Electric service.
How much does it cost to charge in public?
The cost of public charging depends on the charging station operator. Prices may include an initial charge (one-off) and can be based either on a per-minute or per kWh basis. Using a fast charger is more expensive than using a regular public charging station or home charging. The price of the charging service is available at the charging points, on the provider's mobile app and on the website. To use the public charging points, you need to download the mobile app for each service to your phone or order an RFID reader from your service provider.
The apps can be found in the App Store and Google Play. If you are a frequent electric vehicle user, you should download the apps of all charging companies on your phone. This makes it easy to find charging points and their prices wherever you are.
The service is linked to the car owner's credit card, so payments are automatically charged from the credit card. If you use ABC lataus, Virta or Plugit, the payments are routed directly to Ayvens via an RFID tag or an app. Please always check separately with your employer whether the energy charge for electricity used for public charging can be charged to the employer and how this is done in practice.
Employers can charge their drivers for the use of electricity charged from a public charging point and the free car benefit without any tax value impact.
Charging per minute
The operator will charge you for the time your car is connected to the charging station. This means that you pay for as long as you are parked at the charging station, even after the charge is completed. At charging stations that use this system, you may see a sign saying that you will continue to be charged as long as your car is plugged in, even if the charging process has already stopped.
Charging per kWh
This charging method charges based on kWh consumption and charging time at the parking station. When you are an Ayvens corporate leasing customer, your employer pays the car charging costs through Ayvens.
- Fast charging points
Fast charging points are equipped with fixed cables with different types of plugs. So you don't need your own charging cable to charge at a quick charge point. Attach the charging cable to the car and to the charging point. You can easily start and stop charging with your charge card.
