Driving abroad with lease car
Export licence
If you're planning a trip abroad with your lease car, check out the guidelines below.
If you are travelling outside the Nordic countries (Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark), you will need an export licence from Ayvens. Please apply for an export licence well in advance, at least 2 weeks before your trip. Export licences can be granted for a maximum of three (3) months at a time. At the moment we do not issue export licences to Ukraine, Belarus or Russia.
- Ask your employer for permission to take your car abroad
Make sure your employer allows you to take your company car abroad.
- Technical part of the register extract
You will need the technical part of the paper registration certificate whenever you travel by car outside Finland or to Åland. You can obtain the technical part of the registration certificate from Trafi's electronic service via this link or from a vehicle inspection office. The technical part of the car registration certificate can be printed out by the person registered as the owner or holder of the car at the vehicle inspection station. You can check the holder's details on the Trafi website.
- Are you the 2nd holder of the car?
If you are not registered as the 2nd holder of the car, you will need a power of attorney from Ayvens to collect the technical part of the registration certificate from the vehicle inspection station.
- Contact customer service
You can obtain an export licence and the above-mentioned authorisation from the following address: asiakaspalvelu@ayvens.com. Please indicate in the message:
- your name
- car registration number
- your destination
- the period of travel
- export licence delivery address (e-mail)
- You will receive an export licence by email
You will receive an email with your export licence and if needed authorisation to collect the technical part of the registration certificate. We charge a fee for the export licence according to our service price list.
Also remember the Green Card
It is recommended to take a Green Card, i.e., a certificate of valid motor liability insurance, with you whenever you are planning to travel outside the Nordic countries by car. A Green Card is mandatory in the following countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, Moldova, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine. For the time being, Green Cards as part of Ayvens full insurance are not issued to Belarus, Ukraine or Russia.
If your leased vehicle is insured with Ayvens full insurance, you can request a Green Card by sending an email to euro@crawco.fi. Otherwise, you can order a Green Card from your own insurance company. For more information about the Green Card, please visit the Finnish Motor Insurers’ Centre website.
Please familiarize yourself with the country-specific traffic rules and other requirements before the trip, as you are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle and its use comply with country-specific laws. For more information about driving and traveling abroad, please visit the European Commission website.
