Are you ready for a much larger ULEZ?
After an application for judicial review was dismissed in late July, the expansion of the ULEZ will be going ahead on 29 August 2023. Here’s what you need to know.
While the vast majority of vehicles shouldn’t be affected – Transport for London figures suggest nine out of ten cars meet the requirements – for those that are, it means a much larger area where drivers could face a £12.50 daily charge. This includes Barnet, Barking, Biggin Hill, Bromley, Croydon, Edgware, Edmonton, Enfield, Finchley, Harrow and Woodford.
Matthew Walters, Head of Consultancy Services, LeasePlan UK, says:
“It’s worth remembering that this charge applies to residents as well as visitors. If you have a car that isn’t compliant and you live in outer London, or travel to it regularly, it could be time to think about a change. While buying a new vehicle might be a challenge in these difficult economic times, leasing can be a lot more affordable than you might realise. It can even be an effective way to try out an electric car for the first time.”
