Public charging an electric car
Public charging stations
If you want to charge your car while you're outside, you can use a public charging station. It's a good idea to know what different types of public charging locations exist: from regular chargers to fast chargers. There are many apps you can use to find the charging location closest to you. Increasingly electric cars can also navigate to help you easily find the closest charging location.

- Fast charging locations
Fast charging locations have fixed cables with different types of plugs. What that means is you don't need your own charging cable. Connect the cable to your car and you can easily start and stop charging, usually via an app.
How much does public charging cost?

The cost of public charging depends on the charging station operator. The cost at charging stations depends on the duration, energy used or, simply, there is a fixed fee per session. The most common charging method is per kWh consumed.
Using a fast charger is more expensive than regular public charging stations or charging at home. In order to maximize the benefit of using an electric car, it is necessary to schedule when you charge your car so it meets your needs.
Minute-based charging: The station operator charges you based on the time your car is connected to the charging station. This means that you pay while you're parked at the charging station, even after the charging is completed. At charging stations using this fast-charging system you can see a sign that says something like: "fees apply as long as your car is connected to the charging station, even when the charging process has already been completed".
Charging per kWh: The operator charges based on kWh consumption in conjunction with the length of time you’re parked at the charging station.
Tips for charging abroad
When you take your electric car abroad, there are a few things you need to take into account. What infrastructure is available? How can I plan the best route? It may seem like a lot at first, but with a little planning you'll be ready to set off!
