Questions
Can weather conditions affect my driving range?
In addition to speed and driving style, weather conditions affect the capacity of the battery:
- Strong wind
- Very low temperatures, so the heating is always running. Unlike a car with a conventional engine using waste heat from the engine, an electric car must generate the heat with energy from the battery.
- Air conditioning, on the other hand, consumes very little battery capacity.
Does my driving range correspond to the manufacturer’s predictions?
The theoretical driving range assumes the most optimal conditions. You should therefore consider that, certainly during winter, you will not be able to cover the projected distances. However, by adjusting your driving style and limiting your speed, you can increase your driving range.
