This demanding race of almost 650 Kms from Pune to Goa will test his endurance and determination like never before. While time allotted to complete the race is 38 hours, Mahesh, known for his relentless pursuit of challenges, aims to complete the Deccan Cliffhanger in an astonishing 27 hours, with minimal breaks. As he gears up for this new adventure, we invite you to join us in cheering him on. Meet Mahesh Kini

At 50 years young, Mahesh Kini is living proof that age is just a number. With a passion for adventure and a knack for technology, Mahesh has worn many hats in his career. From ensuring data accuracy to leading projects and diving into the world of information technology, he's done it all. Currently, he's the Country Information Officer at Ayvens in India, balancing his corporate responsibilities with his love for endurance sports.

Past achievements and experiences

  1. Triathlete

    He conquered the 70.3 Ironman with an impressive time of 06:43:17 in 2019.

  2. Marathoner

    The Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020 (TMM) saw him complete the race in 03:45:00.

  3. Ultra Cycling

    Mahesh achieved the Half Everesting challenge, conquering 4448 meters of climbing.

  4. Deccan Cliffhanger

    His qualification for RAAM (Race Across America) in 2021.

  5. Brevets

    His participation in Audax Club Parisien events.

  6. Race Across India (3651 km, 2023)

    Secured 2nd place in 8 days, 19 hours, and 59 minutes, racing from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

  7. Satpuda King of Mountain (255 km, 2023)

    1st place (AC) from Nagpur to Pachmarhi.

  8. Jio Cyclothon (100 km, 2023)

    Overall 4th place in the road race.

  9. Tigerman Ultra Triathlon (255 km relay, 2024)

    Part of the winning team.

    Achieved 2nd place.

Deccan Cliffhanger is a fast-paced, competitive ultra-cycling race that takes you on an unforgettable journey from the heart of India to its stunning coastline. The Course: Starting on the Deccan Plateau, the race winds its way through the majestic Sahyadri Mountains, then descends through lush forests and dramatic cliffs, culminating on the beautiful beaches of Goa.

The Challenge: With a distance of 646 km (400 miles), this endurance test is open to both solo riders and relay teams. The solo race serves as a qualifier for the prestigious Race Across America (Which Mahesh has already qualified for), while the relay event is designed in the style of the iconic Race Across America.

Mahesh is taking on the Deccan Cliffhanger in the Solo Crew Supported category for men aged 50 and above. This challenging format requires both individual endurance and strategic teamwork. While Mahesh will be pushing himself to the limit on the bike, his dedicated support crew will be there to assist him with everything from nutrition and hydration to mechanical repairs and moral support. Having already qualified for the prestigious Race Across America through his successful Great Himalayan Ultra campaign, Mahesh is now focused on conquering the Deccan Cliffhanger and showcasing his exceptional cycling abilities.
