How can we help you?
Once the towbar has been installed, you or the installer must immediately present the vehicle for technical inspection.
If the maximum permissible load of the trailer or caravan is less than 750 kg, the inspection centre will issue a certificate valid for 4 years. On the other hand, if the maximum permissible load of the trailer or caravan is more than 750 kg, you will have to present the vehicle for the technical inspection every year, at your own expense.
First, check your vehicle's documents to see if you already have a test certificate and, if so, for how long it is valid. In general, the following rules apply:
If your car is equipped with a towbar, the first check must take place when the vehicle is delivered. You will then receive a certificate valid for one or four years. If the vehicle tows less than 750 kg, the certificate is valid for four years. If you tow more than 750 kg, you must present your vehicle for inspection every year.
If your vehicle is registered as a light commercial vehicle, you must present it for inspection every year. For light commercial vehicles intended for special uses, such as chauffeur-driven hire or driving schools, you must present your vehicle for inspection every six months. * A passenger car must be presented for inspection for the first time four years after its original registration date. After four years, you will receive an inspection certificate that is valid for one or two years (depending on the mileage).
We will send you or your fleet manager an email reminder one month in advance (based on the date of first registration).
You can always have your vehicle inspected without having received a summons. The following documents are required for an inspection:
- Registration certificate
- Certificate of Conformity
- Certificate of insurance
Anyone who cannot present a valid insurance card will not be refused, but will receive a note on the inspection certificate: "The vehicle does not have a valid green insurance card".
An electric vehicle requires less maintenance. This is due to the fact that the engine has fewer moving parts than a conventional combustion engine, which reduces wear. In addition, oil changes are a thing of the past and the vehicle has no exhaust pipes or gears. In addition, the brakes are less susceptible to wear and tear thanks to the regenerative braking capability.
You can present your vehicle for technical inspection anywhere in Luxembourg. You can find an overview of all control centres on ayvens.com/fr-lu. Keep in mind, however, that when you present your vehicle again after a failed inspection, you must present it to the same inspection centre.
The law requires a roadworthiness test no later than the fourth year following the date of first registration. If you use the vehicle after this date, you must always present it at the inspection. If you fail to do so, you risk receiving a fine and you will still have to present your vehicle for inspection.
If the cost is included in your contract, you will find an order form on the My driver app to present to the control center. This will allow the cost to be invoiced directly to Ayvens.
The fact that you have not received an invitation to present your vehicle for inspection is not a valid reason to justify the use of a vehicle that does not have a valid inspection certificate. You can present your vehicle for the MOT at any time without having received an invitation. It is your responsibility to check that your vehicle documents are in order and to take into account the due date of the MOT.
Submit your request using the My Driver app. We will arrange an appointment for you in the most suitable garage, taking into account the chosen location and how you want to organize the day.
Your car will be checked and serviced by specialists and original parts will be used. Invoicing is done directly between the garage and Ayvens. You don't have to pay anything yourself.
For minor and quick interventions such as topping up oil, AdBlue, windscreen washer fluid or replacing windscreen wipers or lights, you can contact an Ayvens-approved service point immediately. They will help you immediately. Find a service location near you (or on ayvens.com/fr-lu)
We recommend that you have your car serviced before you go abroad or when you return to your country. If the mileage does not deviate too much from the next service interval (max. 2000 km), overhaul is allowed. If the gap is larger, you can always have the levels checked before you go on holiday.
Recall campaigns are initiated by the manufacturer when an anomaly has been found within its brand for a particular model. In this case, the manufacturer invites the drivers of this vehicle to have the problem rectified as soon as possible by an official dealer. When you receive such a letter, please contact your authorized dealer to find out if this defect was corrected during your last service. If this is not the case, you can make an appointment immediately.
During the term of your contract, the costs of maintenance, technical repair and replacement of wear parts are covered by Ayvens if you have them carried out by a partner in our network. As a driver, you are responsible for the punctuality of interventions.
Unforeseen costs due to lack of maintenance of the car are not covered by Ayvens.
Here are a few examples:
- costs due to the fact that repairs or services were not carried out on time;
- the costs of damage caused by a lack of oil;
- Costs related to irresponsible use of the car.
A full overview can be found in the general terms and conditions.
As a driver, you need to ensure that overhauls are carried out on time. The vehicle's on-board computer will tell you when servicing is necessary, but you can also find the intervals at which they should be carried out in the service booklet of the lease car.
You should also regularly check the coolant, windshield washer fluid, engine oil, and tire condition. You can go to an Ayvens-approved garage for these minor repairs. Find a garage near you here.
The garage will contact Ayvens for approval of the work and invoicing. You do not have to pay these fees yourself.
If you are unsure whether it is safe to continue driving or if your vehicle is immobilized, call Roadside Assistance. If this is included in your contract with Ayvens, you can call our helpdesk on +352 29 82 29
If necessary, we will send a technician who:
- fully repair the vehicle;
- Perform a temporary repair so that you can safely get to a garage.
- will tow the vehicle and offer you a replacement vehicle.
If it's still safe to drive, you can request an appointment to have your vehicle repaired using the My driver app. We will look for the best garage in the region of your choice for you.
The time it takes to complete a repair depends on different factors (the cause of the repair, the need to repair or replace parts, the availability of parts in stock, etc.). The garage is in the best position to inform you of the delay.
