The first exclusive Cupra
Cupra Formentor is the first model designed and produced exclusively for the Cupra brand. And it's a great surprise. It is neither an “ordinary” hot hatch nor a mere high horsepower SUV, but rather a car with lots of character and a unique aesthetic signature that can be defined as a high-roof 4-door coupé: its 1.51 m in height is much closer to a Seat León than than to a Seat Ateca, but the ground clearance is higher than the norm. The best thing is that the driving position has been optimized to allow the seat to be very low inside the passenger compartment, and the steering wheel to use a horizontal column and a view over the hood that reminds us of classic vehicles such as, for example, a Porsche 911, only with a higher horizon line.

A unique volume and profile
O.The Cupra Formentor's design explores the versatility of the MQB-Evo platform to the fullest, featuring an elevated and imposing front, a thin waist that highlights both the wide rear hips and the width of the front track, and a downward sloping roof line towards the rear, reminiscent of the silhouette of a coupé of 4 doors. Inside, the steering wheel has two clear round buttons, one for driving modes and the other for turning on and off the engine, while the infotainment system offers numerous possibilities, ranging from small choices like the indoor ambient lighting shade to the actual ability to speak with the car, so that when we say that we are cold it knows it has to adjust the temperature for us. In terms of driving assistance, the Formentor offers autonomous level 2 driving.

The magic and services of the Audi 5-cylinder
O.The Cupra Formentor offers a highly complete range, with front-wheel drive and 4x4 versions, powers between 150 and 390 hp and two plug-in hybrid options. The structure of the range is divided into two aspects: either the normal or the sportier VZ versions. Among the first we have the 1.5 TSI of 150 hp and the 1.4 e-Hybrid of 204 hp. Among the VZ are the 245 hp VZ 1.4 e-Hybrid, the 310 hp VZ 2.0 TSI and the 390 hp VZ5 2.5. The base version can have either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG gearbox, and all others use a DSG gearbox (in the case of the DSG6 hybrids). The VZ 2.0 can be either a front-wheel drive or 4Drive 4x4, and the VZ5 only comes with four-wheel drive.

The Cupra Formentor is Cupra's first exclusive product, which stands out due to dimensions that place it halfway between a coupé and an SUV. The Formentor Cupra will only be marketed under the name of Seat's sports brand, and no separate Seat Formentor Cupra version is planned. More than a Cupra Formentor SUV, the Cupra Formentor 2020 is a new concept of a lowered sports SUV, or coupé SUV, but which for perceived value, performance and technology can be sold for a Cupra Formentor price higher than a simple compact sports vehicle, thus being situated above the Seat Leon in terms of price bracket. The first Cupra Formentor 2019 teasers were shown in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show.
